Aaliyah Hoo Kim, RN
Aaliyah Hoo Kim grew up with community development at her core. She calls this “the closest to God” that shes ever been able to get. Having grown up volunteering at local shelters and soup kitchens, Aaliyah knew that the greatest impact in her life could only be made serving vulnerable populations. After attending a nation wide student leadership conference at the early age of 15, she took off that following summer to volunteer in a rural village of Ethiopia, East Africa where she saw first hand the impact nurses had on communities. It was there, she knew right away that she wanted to be a part of something greater.
Two more mission trips to Latin America would follow prior to her acceptance at Ryerson Universities Daphne Cockwell school of Nursing Program where she would appropriately minor in sociology so as to better understand the inherent political workings of the communities she encountered.
Since graduating in 2017, Aaliyah has held a prominent career as a Community Health Nurse with a government agency where her most recent accomplishments include being nominated for the provinces Nurse of the Year Florence Nightingale Award.
